about

Impalpable Photos is an ongoing project started with the exhibition “Impalpabile” presented in the FotoGrafia Festival, Rome. It was set up by photographer Claudia Ferri and photo editor and curator Annalaura Palma. This photographic project is composed of photos Claudia Ferri has been taking with her camera-phone since 2005.

The idea of setting up an exhibition and a photo-blog in which Claudia could store her photographs came when she showed me the thousands of photos she has taken with her camera-phone in the last few years: the photos were great and the daily moments she had captured mesmerising. I thought it could be interesting to show how an accomplished photographer explores the possibility of an amateur tool such as a camera-phone and its potential as a diaristic media.

In addition I wanted to investigate how digital photography changes the way we interact with photographs: few people still print photos but instead increasingly they post them on Facebook and Flickr.
Photographs are no longer objects to collect and store in frames or photo albums but impalpable images to share and send around the world.

For the duration of the exhibition in Rome, Claudia will be updating the photo-blog with new photos every day. We would like to move the exhibition to different cities and maintain the blog so that the ‘virtual’ exhibition is constantly evolving (just as peoples’ facebook pages do).

Enjoy the impalpable photos!
Annalaura
